A brave 71-year-old Poppy Seller was left in a critical condition after she was mugged on Saturday in a sickening and disgraceful unprovoked attack
The woman was knocked to the ground and had her handbag stolen after she had spent the day collecting for the Poppy Appeal in Harrow. She did not have her collection tin with her at the time of the attack.
Police said the mugger is thought to be in his late 30s and was wearing a light grey tracksuit, black trainers and a brown hat.
Sandra Broad Harrow Poppy collection organiser said “I did not know the lady but she collected last year for us as well and raised £149 then. She was a volunteer and phoned up to say what can I do. We have never had any trouble like this before. We would love to see her but it is family only at the moment. We plan to send her a bouquet when she is better. This has broken all our hearts at the legion, I am devastated”
Detective Sgt Gideon Mitchell, from Barnet’s Major Crime Unit, has urged anyone with information about the incident to contact officers.
“This was a particularly nasty and callous attack on an elderly woman. I would urge anyone who recognises the description of the suspect, or who has any information that may assist”
Let’s share this around and catch this scum bag!
