Lucy Hill, 21, from Bury was injured in a moped collision on Saturday afternoon which left her fighting for her life. The horrific accident comes days after she embarked on her dream trip around Thailand last week.

Following surgery, Lucy requires blood transfusions. Her family and friends made a desperate international plea to help find the rare A-Negative blood she needs, as fewer then one per cent of Thai people have ‘negative’ blood groups. The social media campaign is aiming to find Western travellers or ex-pats who may have Lucy’s blood type.

Dad Phil Hill says following the appeal dozens of people queued outside the Maharaja Nakorn Chiang Mai Hospital from 6am this morning, two hours before it opened, to donate blood.

As a result, another six units of Lucy’s blood type have been donated however his daughter is likely to need further surgery this week and will need more units of blood.
