Valencia have appointed England assistant Gary Neville as their manager until the end of the season.

The former Manchester United captain leaves his role as a Sky Sports pundit to link up with his brother Phil, who has been assistant manager at the La Liga club since July.

Gary Neville will take charge of his first Valencia match in the Champions League against Lyon next Wednesday (December 9), with Phil in caretaker charge for this weekend’s match at home to Barcelona.

Sky Sports have wished Gary Neville well as their pundit heads off to manage La Liga club Valencia.

The former Manchester United captain is the surprise replacement for Nuno Espirito Santo at the Mestalla and will work alongside his brother Phil, who has been assistant manager since the summer.

But his departure for Spain comes as a blow for Sky, where he has been a popular pundit on their Monday night coverage of the Barclays Premier League.

The brother’s now have a chance to drag Valencia into the Champions league knock out stages, however it is not sat in their hands.
